Which ones seem to be free and portable? Not obvious from the website.

check "the Applications & Tools" menu
or the "Downloads" page

you have for example:
Registry Viewer
INI Editor
XML Viewer
ROM BIOS Explorer
Process Viewer
...

hope it helped

I just discovered this site, and had to try them all.

link: http://www.mitec.cz/Data/XML/data_downloads.xml

I think the majority of them are portable, some are packaged in installers so I assume those are the ones that aren't portable :D

[edit]
Ok they're not stealth, I've tracked a couple and they write their settings to
Code:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\user\current\Software\MiTeC

Despite this these are some very useful tools to be found from this author.

XML Viewer is at version 5.4.1 (14.5.2016)

Writes to...

Code:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MiTeC\XMLViewer\5.x
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MiTeC\XMLViewer

Has anyone ever tested MiTeC Mail Checker for portability?

Create an empty file MAILCHECKER.ini in the application folder otherwise it will be created in AppData\Roaming\MiTeC\Mail Checker

No registry entries found

Thank you! Did you test it just for portability or had a deeper look at it? My favourite mail notifier is PopMan but since it doesn't support Unicode I will have to test this one.

Just tested for portability. I want to take a closer look later.

I tested Mail Checker version 7.2.0.0 briefly:
- It was able to import mail accounts from Thunderbird.
- It was able to connected to Gmail and GMX.
- One can set a period for automatic mail checking and a notification sound for new messages.
- In contrast with PopMan there is no tray control- right-click on Mail Checker tray icon just exits the program (at least on my system), middle click does nothing.
- There are 4 icon sets for tray icon.
In short- Mail Checker works fine but it is not perfect.

@smaragdus
Thank you for testing Mail Checker and for sharing your findings.
I also use PopMan, but I am always curious to test other software.

@moderators
Posts about Mail Checker might be split from this thread thus giving Mail Checker its own thread.
