It seems to be a global favorite outside of the English speaking world, and its latest version (7.0.1.91) is supposed to be entirely portable -- everything is kept inside the installation folder, and the program even advises you to choose otherwise if you try to install it in the same drive as windows... (So, I request mods move this to Submissions or at least to Discussion)

Foxmail supports multiple email accounts to work simultaneously, thus providing you with all the email messages you receive and notifying you ever time this action occurs. It sports a friendly and well-organized GUI that incorporates three main vertical panels for quick overview of email messages, contents of the current email folder as well as the selected message.

The email client software also offers a calendar for scheduling your appointments and a RSS feed reader. It handles message composition with ease through its WYSIWYG method and allows you to create refined email filters. The application also supports Outlook messages, Exchange email accounts and mailbox encryption.

Foxmail works with any given email account and brings all the necessary tools to simplify the email management process. The only downside of the software revolves around the installation process that may be too much for some users that just don't want to guess their way to its completion and quickly go for some other program in its category.

Have been using foxmail for years. Good program.

I started out on ver 5. Then 6 came out which was a lot prettier but had a lot of features I disliked. I ended up bastardising some of 6 and integrating it into version 5's sub-structure.

Will take a look at ver 7.

Foxmail v7.0.1.91 is not fully portable. It leaves traces behind: file system and in the registry.

The AfterDawn's "version" is actually 7.0.1.90: Foxmail's installed/extracted files packed in a zip archive. Not portable.

---

I've been wanting to switch my mail client and I must say Foxmail looks promising. Thanks Midas for the heads up.

Care to detail that? I couldn't detect any traces from the version I extracted, but I'm quite sure some options will write to the registry...

%AppData% -> Foxmail

HKCU -> Software -> Aerofox

Could be more (I'm still testing).

I gave this a go. I have to say i am very impressed. Just a couple of things i noticed :
-There is no spell checker [or a way to add spell check for other languages]
-There is a comment @ Softpedia that Foxmail tries to contact 3rd party IP Addresses.
If it weren't for these issues, i would have replaced thunderbird

You can quite easily add additional dictionaries.
Download page:
http://www.addictive-software.com/dl-dictionaries.htm
Extract *.adm file from zip archive to Dictionaries folder and rename it to 'american.adm' so the app can pick it up.

I already made the launcher for FM but I didn't posted about it because before I do I would also like to create additional program that would set FM Portable as a default mail client. Currently I'm very busy so it's gonna take a little more time to finish everything.
The launcher - among other cool things - also covers the potential FM "phoning home".

Great!Thanks a lot!
That's very helpful!
Can you post the launcher as it is now?
[the potential "phoning home" is fixed by adding ip's to the hosts file?]

PS. If it works with a launcher, how will you set it as a default mail client?[to my knowledge, it cannot be done]

You are welcome. :)

Launcher:

Put all Foxmail's folders and files in App folder. Run 'TC-Foxmail.exe' to start FM. You can use 'Foxmail.ini' to configure the launcher.
Do note that this is testing version. There are still some things I would like to add and change.
Feedback is very welcome. :)

Sure it can. I've done it for my Chrome launcher,...
Just wait for the final version and you'll see.

Foxmail silently updated to v7.0.1.92 last December 1st.

You can get the installation package from Softpedia

v7.0.1.92 has both the empty dir in %Appdata% and the Aerofox key in the registry but it seems not adding itself to the HKCR\mailto ( v7.0.1.90 did for me).

Nice software. I'm using the built-in Opera mail for my low-end email needs but this one would be a good candidate if I were to switch.

On WinXP a "Foxmail.LNK" shortcut is placed in the SendTo too.
