Are you talking about Opera's native portable install? Or are you talking about PortableApps.com, Opera@USB or Kejut's version?

I use the native one now and just auto-upgrade. For the others, you'll probably have to wait until they release their new build.

Could someone explain what makes Opera@USB different than say using the Official Installer to extract to a folder?

Opera@USB is easier to set up - just extract and run. That's the only difference I know.

i was wondering the same thing lately...right now? i guess nothing
but, back in the days when opera had no support for portable installation, opera@USB was suberb!
had it's custom buttons too, that added functionality, like the one you could use to hide all images

Thats what I was thinking too. Also I find the Opera Installer a little easier to handle, but then that could be just me.

Just one trivial thing to note, when you auto-upgrade, Opera adds all the different language files to your Opera install.
To save some space after upgrading, you can remove all the languages you don't use from the "locale" folder.

It's a bug in Opera.

When you type into the search field, the "Configure search engines" option appears below the field. If you accidentally hover that option when you press Enter, you will select it instead of performing the search.

oh wow!
you're sooo right...

Now it make sense .. i was pulling my hair out trying to pin-point the glitch.

I guess the "accidental" happens when the mouse hover is below it then pressing Enter.. selects the Properties.. lol.

I hope Opera is able to fix this in the next release.

ANOTHER GLITCH:
Sometimes copying and then "paste and go" into the Speed Dial's search doesn't work.
Opera adds "HTTP://" or "HTTPS://" to beginning of pasted search term causing an error return vs. searching.

I also hope Opera fixes this glitch, in previous versions.. this was not a problem.

An alternative to this glitch is copying the text, then right-click, and select "Search" from Opera's context menu.
But this is not feasible in all scenarios.

Both glitches have been fixed with the release of V11.50 :)

Thanks for that note.. saves approximately 13MB !

It seems, that the problem with the "Google Instant"-feature is solved with 11.50, too. :D
At 11.11 you had to "mask" Opera as "Firefox".

I'm hoping one day Google will officially support Opera.

There's a "search with an image" that finds similar images based on an image you upload. This feature is also available only if you mask as FF.

(there should be a pale blue camera icon at the right end of the main input box)

So I updated the product description a little bit today and noticed we have a point about urlfilter.ini adblock system but the link provided doesn't describe where to place the file. This may have already been discussed in forums, but I've been unable to find it.
