That WEI of 3.4 is more than likely due to your graphics card, click your Start orb and type perf,
you should see 'Performance Information and Tools' click the link and you should see something like:

and for comparison's sake, my rig (2007 Laptop):

If your 'Base score' is based on Graphics performance you should be able to improve your computers performance with a new Video card.

What the heck is "Intel" ? lol.

you're right.. it's the "Gaming Graphics" that kills my score..

what's weird is my VM has a better score:

You have to remember this is a Notebook, so swapping the video card would be a chore.

Emka wrote:Has anyone compared the different adblockers available now for Opera?
I was delighted by the fact that now with Opera AdBlock a comfortable extension using different adblock lists was available, but I experienced worse results than with my own costumized urlfilter.ini (I think it was once based on a Fanboy list). So I deactivated Opera AdBlock again. I'll try AdSweep in combination with urlfilter.ini now.

i don't have any problems with it blocking, but i do notice a slight load-time difference.

With Opera Adblock, i can see the ads (greyed out) as Opera is loading, but after a few milliseconds, it disappears.

Vs.

If i manually add fanboy's Adblock list and CSS, there is no lag, it's instantaneous.

ashame.. i have since uninstalled Opera Adblock, and have chosen to go the manual route.

im still happy that there is an automated alternative available for the masses.

I have created an application which can automatically update the fanboy lists, perhaps I should release it!?

OK, well 1 vote is enough, but it would be nice to see more interest. I will work on it this week or after I released the PasteBin application.

i would be interested but i would need a bit more info.
for instance: how will it differ from Opera's Adblock?

the reason i discontinued using Opera's Adblock is the delay as mentioned above.

will yours be different?

Its just a Windows application that can download the latest Fanboy List, instead of having to do it the manual way. It will also work with the Portable & Installed Version(s) of Opera.

i would appreciate a bit more info, too (just curious)
i'm guessing it'll be minimal, e.g. you'll set the path to the profile folder and then select how often the program will check for updates @ the site, correct?
in what programming language is it written, if i may ask?

AutoIt

The idea at present is it will locate the locations of Opera (Portable & Installed) and then the user will select 'download' to update the URLFilter.ini. It will also support Chrome and the other Filters Fanboy hosts. It will also not look an AutoIt application!!

What do you want it to do?

You know what.. i have mistaken !
Im such an idiot .. lol.

The lag only occurs within OperaTor, and only when Tor is being used.
Which make sense, as it takes a few extra seconds to load with Tor... duh.!

I use both Opera and OperaTor and they sometimes become indistinguishable.

Opera Adblock works fine !
It was me... forgive me .. !

OK, I will stop development of the application in that case.

don't stop because of me.. i would hate to see you do all that work and it not be used because there's something similar.
But im just one vote.. maybe there are others who may find it useful.

But there is something i have a question about:
- Would you know why when i type real fast into Speed Dial's search then hitting "Enter" causes the Properties Page to pop up? instead of searching?
- This doesn't happen all the time.. and i can't pin-point what's causing it.

It's a bug in Opera.

When you type into the search field, the "Configure search engines" option appears below the field. If you accidentally hover that option when you press Enter, you will select it instead of performing the search.

well, if it was to be developed, i would be super-happy with what you describe it would do.
sometimes i thought of doing something similar myself, but never did due to lack of motivation, 'cause i usually don't update my urlfilter.ini very often 8)

I use a Java app for this: http://my.opera.com/urlfilterdownloader/blog/
I'd like to see an AutoIt version!
