NFOPad [NFO viewer & text editor]

#1 Post by Spiff »

Version 1.55 is rejected but the latest version of NFOPad has a setting to store the settings to an INI file.

Info:
Lightweight NFO viewer and text editor.

Type:
Freeware

No install needed, just unpack the rar:
http://thd.dyndns.org/dl.php?file=nfopad156.rar

Info and screens:

Settings:
By default NFOPad stores the program settings to the registry, change this in Options. You can also disable the shell features there.

Although it has previously been rejected (see viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3685), I just wanted to vouch for NFOPad too -- which is portable in the present version: IMHO, the best .NFO file viewer out there -- after the demise of DAMN NFO Viewer.

Cheers, 8)

P.S.: Shame on me, I did have a few posts here, but my account was suspended for lack of recent activity...

Could someone enlighten me, please?! What is a .nfo file useful for? What can it do that .txt and .doc can't? I've never seen a .nfo file outside a downloaded torrent folder (and used there to describe the properties of downloaded file, be it a movie, a linux distro or other).

I don't use a specialty NFO viewer because NotePad or any other text editor can view them fine.
is it stealth? ;)

+ Added new status bar items: file size, unicode indication, selection length (not shown by default)
+ "Match case" in the Find dialog is not saved between sessions anymore

+ When reopening a file (F5) the text is scrolled back to the previous location
+ Find/replace/count performance greatly improved
+ Changed some default values for Auto Width
+ Fixes and tweaks on how to select text by double clicking and ctrl-clicking

Before I bug NFOPad developer about it, I'd like to check with anyone who reads this if they're getting any similar error while trying to auto-paste dates (CTRL+D) with the latest version (v1.73)?
@webfork: please remove version info from OT subject for more straightforward retrieval. Thanks. :)
