Hello everyone :)

I saw this (pretty amusing) video with some man called Stephen Fry
I want to help to translate this video to Hebrew (Hebrew Subtitles)
I've already saw this (Hebrew) translation which is &*%^&(# HORRIBLE!!
So, I need help with the following...

English subtitles

Quote:
10
00:00:28,000 --> 00:00:30,999
because this happens to be a year of celebration,

46
00:02:14,000 --> 00:02:19,999
is run by the community, run by coders "out there"

49
00:02:32,000 --> 00:02:34,999
is tested, worked upon, and refined

I need you to try to EXPLAIN these three sentences in other way (but same meaning of course).
Thank you for any help that you can provide :!:

"worked on" (repaired, improved, or otherwise adjusted)

Cheers.

נבדקת, נתאמת, ונלטשת

pretty hard to do this in Hebrew... well...

instead of "Every distro..." I'll "On every distro there are some..."
hmm... seem like "too long" (only one line!):?
_____________________________________________________

Or, maybe: "Every distro passes: tests, adjustments and (last) refines... (how's that sound?)

Instead of "Refined" --> "Cleaned up" (fixed?)
כל הפצה... עוברת בדיקות, התאמות וליטושים/תיקונים אחרונים

maybe, instead of "refined" --> inspection, supervision, control, revision, checking

Thank you very much for your help :D (I'll send my translation within a few hours).
Just wondering if you want to be mentioned in the 92 (which is the last) field, and how exactly?

At last :D conserning to this post

I think I found the appropriate word for "refined" --> "finish" as in finish (of furniture, building) or "final touch" or "final 'touch up'" this is how, sometime, we use finish in our (stupid) launguege

גימור (Gimoor: Hebrew & English)

ליטוש (Litush: Hebrew & English)

צחצוח (Tsichtsuach: (lol, it looks so funny in Latin) Hebrew & English)

Refined in Hebrew (refine --> לצחצח --> צחצוח)

____________________________
edit: ליטוש אחרון - final touch (HE) & final touch (EN)

gee... whats up with these online Hebrew dictionaries!! (why everything is messed up??? btw, I wanted to use THIS EXACT WORD from the begining, but I really want to authenticate and to be 100% sure about the right compatibility of each of the translated words

(now I'm fixing some RTL (Right To Left) problems... and I'm done)

Whats up brother :P

I'm not sure what you're talking about (I'm not a Audio/Video guru like you...) can you link to a website with more info about it?
Though, I'm not sure what is "it" :?

Have you meant to a "built it" subtitles?

well here is a link to the program I am using
http://www.bunkus.org/videotools/mkvtoo ... ml#windows

it is a windows port of the mastroska tools and a GUI

what it does is allow people to mux audio/video/subitles/etc... etc... into matroska containers which are completey open source (which is why I use it over avi or mp4 and it has some additional features as opposed to these containers.) .ogv is a container as well (usually for vorbis and theora and text subtitles) I dont now how to add additional subtitles to this video (why you may ask? for archiving purposes but it seems "editiing" the video may against its license.... creative commons is a piece of shit... well I think adding a subtitle wouldn't be editing the video itself ;) well yea I get an error while trying to add the videos to a new container .ogv --[add subtitles here]-> mkv

im trying to find a way to edit or atleast mux shit into existing .ogvs... im going to try ogmtools later on tonight although I doubt that it will work... ogm is another ogg container format (as ogg itself is one as well lol)

Creative Commons are very problematic to me, I must say, or maybe I don't understand them properly?!? but when I'll need to use some content which is under CC I'll see what will happen then.

well if you watched the video you posted you have used content that uses the CC license or bigbuckbunny or elephants dream or most art on devian art... basically you can distribute it but you cant edit it... from what I understand I may be wrong though but I would understand why artists choose the CC license

Actually, I got here from a Google Alert.

CC licenses are very vague, there are several of them..

Attribution -- take the work, do whatever you like, change it, etc. You just have to say I'm the original creator.

Attibution Share Alike -- take the work, do whatever you like, change it, etc. You just have to say I'm the original creator, oh and whatever you created based on my work is also under this license.

Attribution-NoDerivs -- use it as is, you can't change it. You just have to say I'm the original creator.

And then you can add a NonCommercial option to all those too, which forbids commercial use.

So, for this film, we used Attribution NoDerivs. You can copy the film, change it into another format, etc. What you cannot do is change it, or edit it, or take a piece of it, except under fair use laws.
