I personally find it easy to use. I think you have to take into consideration the users of the program. Those who will use it will have a pretty good understanding of computers/software.

The reason I even bring it up was because this program's functions are not obvious to me and I'm not a casual user. I am more than willing to help with some kind of howto/help file.

Agreed. For the time being I modified the entry to include:

Code: Select all

"ArcThemALL! is a multi-compressor of files and folders for advanced users."

I don't know, I think it is a unneeded limitation.. I could create a guide to explain its basic use, because the software is useful also for beginner users..
Consider that it includes less features than a normal compression software and the basic use is quite immediate:
1. drop on it files to process
2. select compress or extract
3. select format and mode
4. start compression

And from the "Readme" (available under "docs" folder) you can find a brief explanation of each compression/extraction mode.

Finally, advices to improve or simplify the software are welcome!

The Arcthemall 3 beta download link is not working.
Other archive format support will be a good option
as u have asked but i mainly use Arcthemall for compressing
Executables. So Please include WinUpackE or mew11 or
any other Execompresser which can compress MpcStar & Avidemux.

I have removed that beta because I have released the stable version some days ago.
About other exe compressors, they are closed source and not very stable. I have kept mpress, but separated it from the distributed package. I think is not a good idea to create a software with several external components, but I'll keep it in my todo list.

I have released a new version 3.1 that includes some fixes, improvements and the official Guide (as in DropIt).

First of all As you have doubt that brute force compression
might currept the executables, so i must tell u that first i
have used brute force many times but didnt find this problem,
Second it is optional someone may use or may not use brute
force, thired the files compressed with upx can always be
uncompressed & get the original files back if something goes wrong.

Then I Sujjest that ArcThemALL! should be made
Universal Exe Compresser (as there is Universal Extractor
for Extracting Files). No matter if it becomes a software
with several external components. Because Exe files
are compressed by those users who know what they are duing.

I have planned to make major improvements to ArcThemALL! in future (for a 4.0 version), but given that actually I don't have so much time to work on it and Guinness helped me to make some good improvements as well.. I have decided to publish a preview release of the next version 3.2 (that I'll release after some days of tests):
http://www.lupopensuite.com/files/ata/A ... rtable.zip
http://www.lupopensuite.com/files/ata/A ... Source.zip

It is not a stable release, but allow you to test next improvements and help me to fix it.

This is the actual changelog:
- improved software interface
- improved software performance
- added support to resize software window
- updated 7-Zip v9.20
- updated MPRESS v2.17
- updated UPX v3.07
- fixed some minor bugs

For those who have used ArcThemALL! in the past and wanted the GUI to be re-sized this is now possible. Again, with DropIt, anyone wishing to learn AutoIt, download the source code and get a feel for what ArcThemALL! can do.

I'm working to improve also ArcThemALL! options.. about MPRESS: can you help me describing supported commands/options? thanks!

If you run CMD in the Run Box and then drag MPRESS.exe to the CMD Prompt Window, then type -? it will show the list of commands. It seems MPRESS doesn't have any good documentation, so this is the next best thing.

I'm having a serious issue: every time I drop a file onto the interface, I immediately get a pop-up window saying something about my computer shutting down in 5 seconds! Any ideas?

And it really shuts down my comp!

They were checked, although I never activated those options (that's why I didn't look there)!
I unchecked them and now it works fine.
Thanks! :)
