Windows Movie Maker clone

#1 Post by portackager »

Can someone suggest a good "Windows Movie Maker" clone. I'm a bit fed up with the random crashes and crappy video quality. All I really care for is something with a similar interface and feature set as WMM, but also I'd like it to be much more stable than WMM.

Thanks

i've also been looking for something like this lately, for very basic, timeline-based video editing. i use virtualdub a lot, but sometimes it just isn't the right tool for the job, especially since it is somewhat picky with what kinds of files it will work with...

i hope someone knows a good tool for this!

Generally don't link directly to the files since they change over time. For instance with the FLV import module to virtualdub, though the guy was clever there - he left the file up with a readme file saying "This is an outdated version!"

I'm also interested in this thread... looks like there's a lot of alternatives out there!

Will take awhile to weed through all the different options though!

How do I add video to Windows Movie Maker? What kind of video files does it take? I need some serious help! I'm not sure how to convert videos from Youtube to fit to my Windows Movie Maker. I want to make a video for Twilight and other movies/books and I can't figure out how to add video clips that will work. I'm not sure what kind of video files WMM takes but it would be greatly appreciated if anyone could help. Feel free to email me with questions, tips and suggestions. Thank you!

Please don't bump an old topic next time.

For WindowsXP:
Go to http://www.mediaconverter.org and convert your videos to .wmv files, which should be supported. Then just go to File->Import Into Collections and browse for your movies.

For Vista:
Should be similar, but I don't have vista so I can't tell you.
