Mobile Desktop vs. Remote Desktop

#1 Post by CISSP »

I've been tasked with investigating the Pros and Cons of deploying a virtual/mobile desktop solution to our clients (such as the U3 type smart USB drives) vs. a remote desktop solution. For some clients, the remote desktop solution would be a good fit, however, they would be the minority in my opinion. I like the idea of having a "desktop on a stick" with the U3 enabled flash drives. Now, can you really approximate an organization's desktop (standard build) this way? Another crucial concern is whether or not someone using one of these U3 drives would require an admin account on a hotel kiosk, Internet cafe, etc.?

I've posted this on the U3 forum as well, in case this looks familiar to anyone.

Thanks,
Chuck
