It is implemented as an Audio Processing Object (APO) for the system effect infrastructure introduced with Windows Vista.
Equalizer APO is best used in conjunction with Room EQ Wizard, because it can read its filter text file format.

Your equalizer configuration (audio preset) can be saved and activated by 1 click, hotkey, tray or desktop shotcut. Install by moving downloaded Peace.exe to 'config' folder of Equalizer APO ...
Note: Your virus scanner can detect a virus in Peace.exe. This is a false positive, more info on the forum.
Notes:
- EQAPO obviously has to be installed because it interacts directly with the sound drivers (and you'll need to reboot).
- However, Peace is portable (settings written to peace.ini in EqualiserAPO\config).
- Configurations are also "portable," in that they are written to PEACE files (plain text, see below) in the same directory.
- All configurations (EQAPO and Peace) are based on simple text input. Eg, for crossfeed:
Code: Select all
Copy: L2=0.5*L+0.5*R Copy: R2=0.5*R+0.5*L Copy: L=L2 Copy: R=R2
- Crossfeed and other filters (eg, delay, reverse, high/low-pass, echo, etc) are accessible under "Commands" (in the Peace GUI).
- REW (Java-based, probably not portable) is optional, and mostly for people listening via speakers. I use Peace + headphones so have never had use for REW.
- I found this because I was looking for a way to have crossfeed when watching YouTube videos, or with audio players that don't have such a filter.
- It's useful for headphone users (like me) who experience fatigue from the sharpness of most stereo music/sound.
- I made a related comment on the Foobar2000 entry.
- Interesting info on Meier crossfeed. The bottom of that page has some audio samples.
