Little information:

If after updating to version 12.0.54.5914 you "check for updates" again, it reports there is a new version, but actually there isn't. It is the same version it wants to "update". See screenshot below (Windows 8.1 64bit).

Edit: the Alt-H shortcut for the help menu doesn't work here, pressing Alt-F for File menu does for example.

Actually this isn't really a bug. If you are using version 12.0.54 and the current version is 12.0.54 too, the program downloads new files when the local stored files have different file hashes than the files on the server.
If you are changing file timestamps for example the hashes changes.
But I will have a look into it anyway.

Little information:
people contacted me per mail and complained a bit about a slow PC when using my program and compressing many files.

As you know I switched from another compressing library now to 7-Zip.
7-Zip has many advantage over the my libary. Furthermore people asked for 7-Zip.

It's much faster and efficient than the library I used before. This means, technically 7-Zip uses all available ressources compressing files.
If you compress thousands of small files this can result in some general slow downs for your PC and a > 90% CPU usage over all cores.
But a fast compressing and high CPU usage means also that the work the library is doing is finished faster - not true for every software, but using 7-Zip this is true.

Technically it's not an error. It's just a very fast library using all available ressources for compressing files.

Next update:
for the next version I already fixed a few small issues. The update will be available in a few days (coming before new year).

For consideration:

It may not be an error, but perhaps you should consider a way to set an upper limit of how much CPU / memory usage jabut can "take" - other backup programs do take such matters into account as well. As a rule (I think anyway) a backup shouldn't "get in the way" of normal computer usage - if something "gets in the way" I tend to postpone using it which is of course dangerous as I may forget to make an important backup before a hardware failure for example (I remember when I had to backup to DVD disks in the past which I delayed as it was so annoyingly slow, and low and behold, my HDD crashed and I hadn't done a backup for a while so I lost a couple of days of important work - now with USB3 flash drives its very fast so I don't "forget").

Hi and thank you for your message.
I fixed the high cpu usage of 7-Zip in a different way. But I didn't implement a cpu usage "limitation".
Instead of 90% and more cpu usage it is now bouncing between 40% anbd 60%.
(will be available with a lot more in the next version)

INFORMATION:

Version 57 has two little bugs:

No. 1 prevents pausing copying files with minimum 10 MB of size.
In other words: even if you hit pause, the files continue to copy.

No. 2 doesn't display any progress for files bigger than 10 MB.
With version 57 I changed my copy routine. It's more efficient now but I forgot to activate the callback function.

FIXED in version 58 which will be online in a few time (about 1 to 2 PM GMT+1)
