After a long time, AutoHotkey v2 is starting to come along with the release of the first beta.
AutoHotkey v2 beta wrote:AutoHotkey v2 aims to improve the usability and convenience of the language and command set by sacrificing backward compatibility. As such, scripts written for v1 generally will not work without changes on v2. The syntax is overall more consistent, with much fewer quirks and traps, and many other improvements have been made.
I was going to update the version number because there was an update today/last night ( https://github.com/AutoHotkey/AutoHotke ... v1.1.37.00 )... well there seems to be a v1 and a v2 branch, so now I cannot update the version here on this site because its currently at v2.0.3, so going 2.0.3 --> v1.1.37, doesn't make much sense, especially since when 2.0.3 gets an update it will need changing as well.
Keep tracking the v2 branch, it includes a launcher that tries to detect the version, if it thinks it is the v1 branch it will offer to download it.
Most code on the AutoHotkey forum and elsewhere is v1, but the detection of the launcher is fairly accurate - I suspect that those that follow AutoHotkey here are (or should be) aware of the v1/v2 - I doubt one would find some AutoHotkey code, then try to find "portablefreeware" entry of AutoHotkey and download/try to use the incorrect version.
Updates to v1 will be few and far between as far as I understand it.
