Well it indicates that he basically tests on a bare bones install of XP, and one can assume with all the latest SP's and hotfix's, which would include the .NET framework so in theory it would work...

IMHO, it would be just silly to not include any .NET based applicaitons since .NET is pushed out via the live update process.

Oh well...

The problem is that .Net is not considered a "Critical" update, so even if it is pushed out, it isn't always installed. Also, the problem arises of what version? 1.1? 2? 3?
While I agree that it is a shame (I'm a .Net developer and know of a bunch of great apps that are .Net and portable in the sense that they don't touch the host computer) that some great apps don't make it into the database, I certainly understand the reason. Who know, perhaps at some point things will change and .Net will become more ubiquitous, and the criteria for what is put into the database will change. Until then, however, Java and .Net apps are a "no go" I'm afraid. Thanks.

I wonder why .NET simply can be a listed dependancy?

The difference is that those dependency (in just about all cases) are DLLs that get copied to the application's directory, not installed on the host. Unfortunately that isn't something that can be done with .Net.

Terminals 1.01

Terminals is a multi tab terminal services/remote desktop client. It uses Terminal Services ActiveX Client (mstscax.dll).
The project started from the need of controlling multiple connection simultaneously.

The 1.6 Beta releases are more full featured, and offer many more tools such as VNC, Citrix, SSH support, as well as many misc Network tools. The Beta's are a bit buggy though, and 1.01 is the production release which is a simple tabbed rdp client. It uses a file named Terminals.config to save all your client connection info. If you have to manage multiple servers or machines, you will appreciate this program.

Damn it! You are right. I just walked through it with Dependency walker and right there it was, "MSCOREE.DLL". I have been using this portably for a while and never even thought about it being .net dependent, because I have used it so many places without error. My apologies for the submission.

I found a great RDP Management program, which is Freeware and portable.
For example: install to a local folder and copy the install folder to a Network share worked for me.

But those were before Andrew democratized the submission process, which has allowed .NET apps to get added to the database. In cases like this, we give the "suggested by" credit to the first person who mentioned it in the forums.

EDIT: For the most part, you did a good job with the submission. I changed the "suggested by" field, added the .NET info (it's mentioned on the "system requirements" page at the Codeplex site for Terminals), plus added some details and replaced the "install-copy-uninstall" instructions with the ZIP file instructions, which we usually prefer.

Plus, I voted for it. It's been awhile since I had a use for Terminals, but I used to think it was pretty nice.

Terminals (http://www.portablefreeware.com/?id=2129) is still being developed, current stable version is v2.0; requirements seem to have been stepped up, but they're quite common in more recent MS OSes:
