tabbyFile

#1 Post by Fluffy »

tabbyFile is a minimalist file manager. It stores settings to an .ini, and requires the standard install/move/uninstall procedure.

The installer is not neccesary, here's a link to the zipped exe:

I updated the database entry because the download links at Brothersoft didn't work.

I found a download for the portable version:
http://files.fyxm.net/77/77739/

The Direct Download Link:
http://files.fyxm.net/77/77739/tabbyFile212.zip

VirusTotal report for tabbyFile212.zip (SHA256: 67e5f75ed774e0e1d309efbc48c65fba4981f6d6f4ae4f1992a61b2da4769b86)

This is the only working download page for the portable version I was able to find. However the tabbyFile installer can be downloaded from Softpedia and Freeware Files:

On cue from an old user comment at FreewareFiles and if anyone has it, a pointer to tabbyFile v1.4.1 would be very welcome...

The Internet Archive doesn't have it, BTW. Also, tabbyFile doesn't seem to heed the contents of its 'toolbars.ini' (present in the 'data' folder after first run) and always defaults to the jumbled toolbar arrangement shown by the screenshot below... :(

If you Google "tabbyFile v1.4.1" you'll find a download site (kerodownload) where you can supposedly get it, (TabbyFile v1.4.1.rar, size: 939.752 bytes) Virus total says 2/56

The current download website throws up a warning about unwanted software in Firefox but the download looks solid:

File Data

  • Filename: tabbyFile2.exe
    Version: 2.1.2
    MD5: F261498E695D9D7E6D2A29F7A0909342

    VirusTotal Rating: 0/44

Weirdly the website seems to be working (http://tabbyware.com/) but there's no download.

Thanks so much for your help, lintalist. 8)

Somehow, my previous post got truncated. It's corrected now.

Went ahead and downloaded it from the spammy kerodownload site -- it's in fact the v1.4.1 installer inside the RAR, which I couldn't extract with the two different Universal Extractors I have (Gora's and Bioruebe's); I had to perform an install/uninstall cycle to get the files, instead.

This version of tabbyFile is a different and even more minimal file manager -- see below. Settings are saved to 'tabbyfile.ini' and 'dat' folder alongside the main executable.

In case anyone is interested in this version, I mirrored tabbyFile v1.4.1 files (both the installer and extracted executable) in a ZIP to http://mir.cr/0SJM28DW.
