Re: New designs for TPFC by tproli
You can view tproli's most recent design "live" in a web browser here:
http://www.portablefreeware.com/tproli/index.html
http://www.portablefreeware.com/tproli/details.html
http://www.portablefreeware.com/tproli/ ... sults.html
Note that these are just template or showcase pages with no functionality. However, I feel this is still an improvement over static screenshots, so here they are.
It will take me awhile to work his template into the system, so please be patient!

I couldn't test above IE7 so if you see something weird please report.

Excellent !!
Fresh and not overloaded design = really nice.
The ability to see full content even without javascript (what's new, favorites list...) is , imho, a nice feature.

I just love how clean this new design feels.Andrew Lee wrote:You can view tproli's most recent design "live" in a web browser here:

Two minor gripes:
- accepting that having a lot of different cases/sizes/fonts is distracting and makes reading more tiresome, I feel the program names should have a heavier case instead of a bigger size, enhabling them to act as visual anchors;
- following the same spirit, it would be better to do away with the boxes around the program icons (to the left of names) and move the "updated" flag to its original location (to the right of names), in order to avoid name placement fluctuation.
Re: New designs for TPFC by tproli
- Making the app's name bold and perhaps a bit smaller can be done easily
- For me the "Updated" flag is a side-info and I like its current location. Are you sure you mean "Updated" and not "New"?
- removing the box around the icon is not that bad. So you would prefer this?

- Great.
- You are correct, dear tproli, I really meant 'new'...
- Yes.

I love the new design, can't wait to see this in the official site.

Any idea for the Categories page?
Feels a little too simple for me

Nice work so far, tproli!
For this screenshot:
Can you add some more padding between the "Website / Screenshot / etc" line and the app description? Needs just a tiny bit more whitespace!
As for the category page, I'm digging the whitespace. Simple is sometimes better!

is it stealth?
Re: New designs for TPFC by tproli
I agree, but I had to watch to avoid line-break on about 1000px wide screen resolution. Now I made the margins in percentages which results in about 2-3px more space between the items. Can you add some more padding between the "Website / Screenshot / etc" line and the app description? Icon border is also removed and a semibold variant is used for the app's name.
I'm not sure about to place the "New" tag to the right of the app's name, I don't like the arrow pointing backwards. But if you say it is OK this way, let it be. Or let's try without the arrow?

I like this new design!
The New icon is not bad, I prefer this solution with app name always on the left.
I think also the icon border removal is a good solution, even if I don't like that now app icon and stars are so close.

@tproli
Could you move the "Previous" /"Next" bar at the bottom of the page closer to the footer? Other than that, it looks fantastic. Good stuff.

Moved the footer a bit up.
Or adding stars to the second row, at the end (perhaps making it a bit smaller)?
Do you have something in mind where to put the stars? My idea is to put it next to the app's name (version number), perhaps a little upwards (as a superscript) but that would negatively affect the "New" tag.I don't like that now app icon and stars are so close.
