saw this and thought it was a well-designed page on how secure passwords are depending on what types of characters are used and also how many are used

nice graphics and a form to test combinations

looks like if you use a minimum of 12 characters your passwords are pretty safe for now:

for example if you had a password with all lower case and random alphabet:

12 characters would take 170 years to crack
11 characters would take only 6 years
10 characters would take only 3 months
9 characters would take only 3 days
8 characters would take only 3 hours
7 characters would take only 8 minutes
6 characters would take only 18 seconds
