If it's officially released on PortableApps you can safely assume that it's both tested and stealth :)

That's not *always* the case but admittedly they've been so good about it, I don't test PA programs before adding to the DB.

Yes, Portableapps.com has a portable version but it does not contain Murmur (the server).
Mumble is made portable by adding a mumble.ini file to the root of Mumble, as described in earlier posts.
I always download the *.msi file and unpack it using Universal_Extractor_1.6.1_R7.
Then just add a empty file named mumble.ini to the root-folder.

Murmur has its own murmur.ini file in the root, and can/must be edited to Your own needs.
The murmur.ini file has explainations for every setting, and I always set a join-password to My servers.
fx:
# Password to join server.
serverpassword=

You also should limit the number of allowed users to Your server. (its dfault is 100)
# Maximum number of concurrent clients allowed.
users=

I also use my own predefined ports
# Port to bind TCP and UDP sockets to.
port=

Murmur writes some stuff to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ESENT\Process\murmur
so its not stealth, but the writing is mostly for debugging.
Mumble also writes to registry, but no passwords, users etc.

When You start Mumble for the 1st time, it tryes to get the server-lists.
If You dont want this to happen, You can add disablePublicList=true under the [ui] section like this:
[ui]
disablePublicList=true

Yes, we have a site preference for natively portable programs.

Also thanks for the additional data. I haven't done much with this program but I can imagine a lot of uses for a portable VoIP server, including use on LANs.
