Rapid Environment Editor

Submit portable freeware that you find here. It helps if you include information like description, extraction instruction, Unicode support, whether it writes to the registry, and so on.

Rapid Environment Editor

Rapid Environment Editor 1.5 build 182

Rapid Environment Editor is a Windows environment variables editor.
It includes an easy to use GUI and replaces the small and inconvenient Windows edit box.

Environment variables are specially named aliases for basic system properties.

The program could be useful in editing variables such as PATH, CLASSPATH, INCLUDE or LIB with comfort.
Moreover the program checks your input and highlights incorrect paths or filenames.

The program can be as a "portable application" using ...
a command line parameter /portable. OR an equivalent (supplied) batch file

It is available (ZIP file) on ...

If you run it with the /portable command it doesnt save its settings to the registry, it doesnt save its settings at all :P It looks like a good application though.

@portakager

I emailed the author and to quote from his reply ...
Frankly, RapidEE has very limited number of settings: window size,
confirmations. All these settings do not affect the program behavior
so RapidEE just doesn't save them in "portable mode".
He actually made the point that this could be run from a CD-ROM. Even more portable !!

I don't have any problems with that; I can understand some would like to retain window size settings but it's a small matter.

Rapidee Update v2.0 bld 409

#4 Post by Cornflower »

I am putting this in the Submissions, because it doesn't yet seem to be in the database.

Now at version 2.0, build 409. Many updates since last submitted.

website: http://www.rapidee.com/en/about
download: http://www.rapidee.com/download/RapidEE.zip

How to install: Extract zip file to a directory of your choice. Run the .exe or .bat files as per below:

Run portable:
from USB: run RapidEE_USB.bat, or the command
RapidEE.exe /usb
- creates rapidee.ini the first time

from CD: run RapidEE_CD.bat, or the command
RapidEE.exe /cd
- reads from the .ini file (create it with .usb) but does not write to it.
