CuteTorrent is not a popular torrent client but I think that it shows great promise- it looks really cute and sleek (in my opinion), it offers the most important torrent features and it is open source. CuteTorrent is not natively portable, here I am referring to the portable version created by thumbapps. The latest release is from 2016.04.14 and I hope that CuteTorrent hasn't been abandoned.

CuteTorrent synopsis:

CuteTorrent is a lightweight BitTorrent client with a simple, intuitive interface designed to quickly download and share torrent files. At the heart of it's core resides the powerful libtorrent BitTorrent library. CuteTorrent comes with some interesting features such as Proxy support, Global and per-torrent speed limits, IPv6 support, the ability to mount Disk Images to DaemonTools, and a convenient and easy-to-use web interface that lets you manage your downloads remotely.

CuteTorrent portable:
-1. Download the portable installer provided by thumbapps and available at SourceForge.
-2. Run the portable installer (CuteTorrentPortable_1.0.0.41.paf.exe)
-3. Choose the installation folder.
-4. Install CuteTorrentPortable.
-5. Open the installation folder and run CuteTorrentPortable.exe.
CuteTorrent is portable but I suppose that it is not stealth since it uses Qt framework (a confirmation is needed for the usual Trolltech registry keys).

CuteTorrent license:
CuteTorrent is licensed udner GNU General Public License Version 3.

CuteTorrent note:
CuteTorrent is based on libtorrent, more about libtorrent can be read at Wikipedia.
CuteTorrent seems to be one-man project so I am concerned about its future.

I'd be careful with ThumbApps. Apart from looking and reading like a warez site, I've found that a few of their programs are "dirty" - traces on computer, desktop shortcuts, etc. The quality isn't up to par with that of PortableApps.

Wonder what the deal is with that, as there's a new repo created in June under the user 'CuteTorrent', from which that previous version is now forked from.

So perhaps they're moving the official repo there? Don't know why they wouldn't keep or try to transfer the issues though.

I re-opened the old issue from the old repository here, but the old discussion is gone.

CuteTorrent website has been updated and there is some activity at GitHub. I really hope that this year there will be a new release of CuteTorrent, portable or not. By the way I am having severe problems with qBittorrent and I would highly appreciate another open-source, cross-platform torrent client that is in active development and that will hopefully be more reliable and more stable than qBittorrent. Tixati is not bad by any means- for me it behaves much better than qBittorrent, but is is not open-source and sometimes it spews out donation prompts.
