Note that my big wish for this program (global shortcuts) are not enabled by default. Here's how to set that up:

Global shortcut setup:

1. In the menu, select File - Commands / Global Shortcuts
2. Press the Custom actions and global shortcuts button
3. Click the Add button and select Show/hide Main Window
4. Select the button next to Global shortcut (by default Ctrl+Shift+1) and press whatever key combo you prefer

Here's what that looks like:



Some will prefer Show the tray menu behavior (a bit closer to Ditto's behavior). Just set that command up in place of Show/hide Main Window in step 3:

I haven't tested CopyQ recently but since you did I have a couple of questions: is it possible to set the "Global Shortcut" to be the same as Windows default one (CTRL+C)? And is there a way to retrieve past entries without launching the main program interface? Thanks in advance.

First, I think that CopyQ works very well with images:

Commands/Global Shortcuts... can also be accessed via a hot key (F6):

I use only 3 global shortcuts- Show/hide main window, Paste clipboard as plain text and Show the tray menu:

Pay attention that Show the tray menu is actually the paste menu equivalent to Popup keystroke in ArsClip, Show Main screen in Clibor, Open the Clip Selection Dialog Box in Clipdiary, Activate Ditto in Ditto and Quick Paste Menu in Clipboard Help+Spell. Also note that CopyQ offers 8 very cute themes (dark, forest, light, paper, simple, solarized-dark, solarized-light, wine) available at "File-Preferences-Appearance-Theme". CopyQ is not highly intuitive but it is very powerful and I like it very much.

I did a bit more testing and was disappointed when the encryption function didn't work. There's a "generate keys" button in preferences and a mention of GnuPG in the Commands/Global Shortcuts window, but it doesn't work and there's nothing in the help file or anywhere else in the program that seems to explain it.

It seems a little weird the developers of a widely used, cross-platform tool have chunks of the program that don't yet work. This is pretty standard in a beta stage program but not a release.

Tested v.2.7.1 ... still nothing. Generate New Keys just kicks back a "Error: Process failed to start: no such file or directory." *shrug*

Encryption in CopyQ requires GnuPG (Gpg4win on Windows) which is a non-portable component, for detailed information read Password Protection instructions at CopyQ Wiki.

Yeah I contacted the author about the topic but I don't think he had a track on that. A cross-platform clipboard manager with standardized text encryption is a tall order.
