WindowGrid is at version 1.2.8.1
Tested: Portable1.2.8.1
!FIXED: Had issues updating from a path with spaces.

+ADDED: "Cover Window Overlay" option.
+ADDED: Install Dialog.
±MODIFIED: "WindowGrid.exe" will now use its running location as it's working directory rather than "ProgramData" (Portable).

It's not a recent thing but a newer version came out 1.3.1.1 (posted on 2016-05-17).
License: source seems to be available but can't find a clear statement of license.
Usage notes: Was hoping to find a more open source version of Winsplit but it's not quite the same program. I ran a few tests on Win7x64 but was mostly frustrated by the usability.
Issues:
* No way to make windows flush with one another
* Confusing Window move function
* Doesn't seem to function with a multi-monitor setup.
Extract steps: download, unzip, and launch. When prompted to run setup, click No.
