Contingency planning

#1 Post by Andrew Lee »

webfork has discussed with me quite a long time back about contingency planning i.e. if I get knocked down by a bus, what happens to all the data the community has painstakingly created. But I was lazy and procrastinated on it, so this has been sitting on my todo.

Recently, I finally got down to writing a script to automatically backup the source code and database daily to a location that is password-protected and can be downloaded by webfork and guinness. So in the case of my untimely demise, you guys know who to look for. :D

What if you, web, and guinn where all on the same bus or plane and it crashes? Gotta think of all the possibilities. :P Like a disaster draft for sports teams or something lol. Maybe keep passcode in a safe deposit box somewhere and in an event of something like that happening it will get released to a list of trusted people. Probably overkill but yeah lol.

Put another way -- barring something really extraordinary -- the site is here to stay.

Won't happen. They're stealth.

The chance of that happening is probably lower than an intelligent politician arising within my lifetime.
