Ekiga - voice, video, and IM

#1 Post by webfork »

Nice to see a high quality open source, crossplatform (Win/Linux) solution for high-end video calling. I haven't been able to test this as I don't have a machine that can support the video options that I really want to use, but I think it would be an important addition to the site as an open Skype alternative.
Ekiga (formely known as GnomeMeeting) is an open source (GPL) SoftPhone, Video Conferencing and Instant Messenger application over the Internet.

It supports HD sound quality and video up to DVD size and quality. It is interoperable with many other standard compliant softwares, hardwares and service providers as it uses both the major telephony standards (SIP and H.323).
