Yeah, it's ugly. But I'm just an old timer with a huge lack of vision and reluctant to changes in the interest of progress...
Anyway, I have a question: was it broken?

Still seems kind of similar although I haven't tried it. Any other observations besides the changed appearance?

200% performance increase! Just my guess... Looks is everything these days. :(

200% huh. That's good although it was certainly fast enough as it was. I will try it out. It's difficult to judge against the current version only on the basis of a screenshot.

After trying it out, all I can say is that I don't care for the new look, but I doubt I will look for an alternative because of it. Ghacks has a review on the new 5.0 UI redesign here:

I like the new design but I also like flat designs in general.
I'm rather surprised the amount of negative feedbacks on it.
