I exactly noticed the same, so I generated a FastStone-topic.
Feel free of choice

Great programs! Been using them since... since forever. Wish they support Unicode though.

But FastStone Capture and MaxView aren't free.

Ahem. After looking carefully at the links again, that's embarrassing of me. Got to read the details.

I don't recommend updating from version 3.5 to version 3.6- almost all skins have been removed (now there are only two left- Bright & Dark) and the very useful "RollUp" feature has also been removed from the title-bar,

the dumbification continues.

Edit
I liked FastStone Photo Resizer very much prior to the latest (3.6) version but the GUI changes depressed me and I had to suppress my urge to down-vote it.

Edit
I am using FastStone Image Viewer version 5.5 (I have not bothered to update) and I have just discovered that "RollUp" and skins have also been removed, I will stick to version 5.5 and there will be no more updates for me for FastStone products.

I noticed that yesterday and I decided, like you, to stick with v3.5 :|

I did a bunch of work on a FastStone Maxview screenshot update before I realized it was 30 day trialware.

... on the upside, the old version still works works great.
