New designs for TPFC by tproli
Re: New designs for TPFC by tproli
You mean because of cookie rules? I saw some GB site that asking to accept cookies. As I see TPFC already uses some.

I meant UK sites, though it is an EU law.tproli wrote:You mean because of cookie rules? I saw some GB site that asking to accept cookies. As I see TPFC already uses some.

The "Add Entry" page:

This is a Firefox screenshot, file upload fields can't be styled solely with css. They look better in Opera and Chrome. If you think it is a big issue I can use a javascript solution.

I would say don't bother coding a javascript workaround just because of Firefox. At a guess most who Edit or Add to TPFC use Chrome or Opera anyway, the latter being the better of the two.tproli wrote:The "Add Entry" page:

I have the same opinion, and more styling would perhaps need switching to jQuery instead of Zepto, adding some more KBs to the weight.
I usually use uniform.js, that's how forms would look (themeable):

Yeah, don't bother with advanced form styling, tproli.
After all, only TPFC members who edit entries are going to see them! Your screenshot already ports over all the functionality of the current edit form and that should be enough.

is it stealth?

Wow, it's really quite enjoyable trying the new design out. Here are some initial test drive thoughts:
Loving the toggleable "Screenshot", "Comments", and "What's new?".
Clicking on comments at the test site, yields one comment only. Thought to be better than the last 5 or 10, or just a temporary implementation? Personally, I'd prefer more initial comments in toggle. Further clicking on "See all comments", currently shows none, but looks set up to show them all at the app's designated page, which works for me.
I know there has been lots of fiddling thus far, and I even suggested a while ago to let it settle, but here http://imm.io/EENR FWIW is an image showing some spontaneous experiments (grain of salt ) that include:
* Separating, and labelling "entries to show". Look so similar, and IMO confusing so close together with the results pages navigation.
* Repositioning and labelling "Latest RSS". Could also see the icon back as it was, next to the "Latest" nav link.
* Compacting "NEWSLETTER SIGNUP" area, to increase vertical inclusion on that side.
* Flow the POPULAR TITLES entries, just like POPULAR SEARCHES, to save space.
Also, is there a link to register to become a member of TPFC in the new design? I may have missed that.
Finally, thanks Andrew for the test, tproli, and all contributors!

Now when I have compared your screenshot and the current test site, I agree with that.bærbart wrote: * Separating, and labelling "entries to show". Look so similar, and IMO confusing so close together with the results pages navigation.
I think it isn't necessary. A visitor is supposed to click the RSS icon just once anyway.bærbart wrote: * Repositioning and labelling "Latest RSS". Could also see the icon back as it was, next to the "Latest" nav link.
Nice ideas.bærbart wrote: * Compacting "NEWSLETTER SIGNUP" area, to increase vertical inclusion on that side.

Yes. The link is in the login page.bærbart wrote: Also, is there a link to register to become a member of TPFC in the new design? I may have missed that.

I modified the Popular Titles to be displayed similar to Popular Searches. I'm not sure they are easier to read this way.
I also modified the page controls, see here:

You may see other minor styling updates too as I worked on it in the recent days. Good news is that probably all pages are done on my side so Andrew can use them. There will be surely many modifications but I think we're close.
