What about inline before 'Released...' below the app name? Or in that same place, but on it's own? Or right before the suggesting user's name to the right? Just suggesting (but I feel they should be near the app name, for the benefit of diagonal readers)...

Maybe a new "Popularity" line before Category? In this way stars are also a divisor between description and the other info lines..

Here are two proposals:

Same as the latest but stars right after the app's name:
Image

Left entry sidebar removed so description have more space. Links are whether in top rows or bottom-right corner.
Question is that is "Post Comment" link needed or perhaps "Comments" are enough?
"Edit this entry" could be shown only on hover on the entry.

I kinda like the last one as it is more simple.

I like the last one as well, but float the rating + thumbs up / down block to the right.

Also, not to nit-pick, I could still use a bit more padding between the app links and the app description! :)

"Post comment" link is also removed to reduce clutter. If you think it is essential then it will be back.

Here is the latest Home page preview:

I also made the comments link collapsible. This would show the latest 3 or 5 comments as we talked about earlier:

I will send these new files to Andrew today, then I will be offline for about a week so you will have enough time to review :)

I like the new solution for Stars placement, but overall I feel we are regressing from the peak attained with the design as posted by Mr. Lee (viewtopic.php?p=53130#p53130) -- latest designs are less compact, more cryptic (less intuitive) and a much more cluttered, IMHO.

I'd like to keep the left sidebar. Most people have wide screens now: http://gs.statcounter.com/press/screen-resolution-alert-for-web-developers

I'm happy with the whitespace now! :)

As for the left sidebar thing, I'm open to having it or removing it. I'll leave it to the rest of the community to decide!

I think I like the version with the left sidebar better. The reason is that the main content is not to the very left side but more in the middle. And, as Midas said, it is more compact.

Stars' placement is still a question to me. I would like to keep them together with the thumbsup and thumbsdown buttons. If they are on the right, with the "Updated by" info, then it is too large (and in 3 rows). Additionally, 2 items will be removed from the left sidebar, so there would remain only Add Comment and Edit this entry.

I would perhaps keep the main icon's border, put stars below and vote links too (as in the html Andrew uploaded for you). The border served good as a visual separator between the entries.

I modified some important things, mainly What's new and Memberpoints are now in the table below the synopsis by default, with javascript enabled they are removed and available only from the app-links row. So it works just like on the latest preview but under the hood it is built differently.

I don't have time to fully test it and apply to the other pages, so see you a week later :)

Agreed. Also leaves some room for expansion if more functions are added in the future.

As you would know, there always comes a time when painting, when it slips past being as good as can be, to something less, by way of "over painting". Add to that dynamic, "collective design", which can rapidly bring many helpful perspectives, but also includes the challenge of not being able to "please everyone".

I hope tproli, in the end stage of small details, will trust himself, and give a little more weight to his instincts, being the principle artist. Then also Andrews considerations will be also important. Having said that. What a nice design result, created by the group.

It seems really good, in all these last forms. Don't feel compelled to over work it. In time, any real (non-aesthetic) issues will surface, and can be ironed out.
