Phoner and PhonerLite - VoIP client (SIP)

Submit portable freeware that you find here. It helps if you include information like description, extraction instruction, Unicode support, whether it writes to the registry, and so on.

Phoner and PhonerLite - VoIP client (SIP)

#1 Post by cmmehl »

It's a German program, but the website also caters for English speakers ...

To note that "Lite" in this context doesn't mean any restriction, the non-lite version "Phoner" is free as well and has some additional features that are however not interesting for the portable user.

PhonerLite is freeware but not opensource. It saves its settings in the program directory. I have had it on my stick for quite a while now already, and can recommend it for it's easy configuration.

From the website:
PhonerLite is a clearly arranged and easy to used application for Windows. PhonerLite enables your PC to use it for internet telephony (VoIP, Voice over IP). Pre-conditions are a full-duplex sound card, a microphone and speakers (alternatively a headset), an internet connection and a registration at a provider supporting the protocol SIP. PhonerLite supports several SIP profiles, each configurable independently. In the same way the integrated phone book and call log are easy to use.
Cheers
Chris

Anyone tried this a little more recently? If the website is any indication, it's certainly pretty minimalist, which I like.

What makes Phoner "not stealth"?

#3 Post by Joe »

The listing for Phoner here indicates that it is not stealth: http://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?id=1359 I am trying to figure out what makes Phoner "not stealth". I cannot find any files or folders outside of the application folder neither does it write entries in HKCU\Software. Can anyone tell me exactly where it writes or leave files/folders?

Topic should be in "Discussion" or "Troubleshooting", IMHO...

Thank you for your input. I am sorry if this is in the wrong place. Could you move it to to correct sub forum please?

I'm not a mod so I can't -- but I'm sure webfork will be arriving shortly... :)

I got a green name. I can do this.

I moved it over to the Phoner thread.

Ive been using PhonerLite for some time, and I cant find any registry-entries when I use Registrar Registry Manager Pro search.
Seems stealth to Me.

@joby_toss,

Thanks for letting me know, although it's a rather roundabout way of finding out.
