To make sure Incognito is always used, edit your Preferences file and add the following:
Code:
"incognito": {
"mode_availability": 2
}
This forces Chromium to use Incognito mode on start up. No more unnecessary shortcut files!
For a list of other options you can set, view this file:
http://src.chromium.org/svn/trunk/src/c ... f_names.ccThis should work for Iron and Google Chrome as well, but I haven't tested.
Update:When using the technique above, you cannot access the following items under the wrench menu:
- New window (because we have forced everything to use Incognito mode)
- Settings
- Tools > Extensions
But you can continue to access them manually if you know the URLs:
chrome://chrome/settings
chrome://chrome/extensions
Update 2I no longer recommend what I mentioned above. There are too many restrictions, which is good if you plan on using Chromium in a kiosk-type mode, but for someone who wants to tweak stuff while running in incognito mode, it's better to use the
--incognito command-line switch.
