1. UniExtract the LICEcap installer.
2. Copy LICEcap.exe to a folder of your choice.
3. Place the VBScript next to LICEcap.exe.
4. Launch LICEcap.vbs.

I really love this application! I am Baas deserves a finder's fee

A minor drawback: When I capture a screen region I noticed that LICEcap ignores all overlays and also some context menus: This makes some demonstrations pretty difficult to be visually represented.

For example opening a launcher like RocketDock and moving the mouse sideways over the various icons (while recording), produces a gif which only shows the mouse pointer moving over a still image of whatever was in the background during the recording.

I notified the dev (submissionsATcockos.com) at the end of March but until now I did not get any reply... Can anybody suggest a solution?

Basically the same as the VBScript of guiness but it creates a backup of the existing local licecap.ini (if any).
The procedure is the same, place program files to the "App" and enjoy.

I guess (hope) they will release an official portable version soon, it shouldn't be a big issue to change the location of the settings file.

Wanted to point out that an old program GIF Optimizer http://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?id=1244 seems to work nicely with LICEcap to decrease file size. In the image at the top of this thread, it cut out 9% of the file size without any noticeable difference.

Another program with the same name is available: Leapic GIF Optimizer http://www.leapic.com/free-gif-optimizer.htm ... its Freeware (but untested for portability) program and works more manually to cut more out of an animated GIF file. Reminds me a bit of RIOT for animations.

Just found out that some media players can play animated gifs, and what's more important, they can pause them too.

At least Windows Media Player and Media Player Classic Home Cinema, while VLC, UMPlayer and PotPlayer had issues. I have to add that some of these apps were older versions.

Tested: Not Portable

Still saves licecap.ini to %APPDATA%. I even cut and pasted the INI file to LiceCap's directory and it still created it. So a blank INI or a previously created INI makes zero difference. Shame.
