There are other Sudoku options here at TPFC, but not as lean and well-rounded as this one, IMHO; USB Sudoku executable is only 42KB and there's both an ANSI and a UNICODE version included in the download archive for you to choose. Coded in C(++), it can be played with either mouse or keyboard. It's advertised as pre-Alpha software, but it looks rather mature to me -- documentation excepted, but that's easy to overcome. So here it is...

Re: USB Sudoku
I'd agree. I've been a fan of it for a while even with a couple minor bugs (like starting up blank on first run if there is no INI file). I think if we get it a bit more exposure, we could find someone to pick it up to further development.
To that end, I've released it to the PortableApps.com userbase today: http://portableapps.com/news/2012-06-04 ... 0-released
I also started a translation thread here so we can make it multilingual: http://portableapps.com/node/32470
We're going to compile submissions and do another release with automated (with the PA.c Platform) and manual (edit a single INI entry) language switching.
Hopefully this will net us an interested dev, too.

Re: USB Sudoku
I tried contacting him years ago via email (which may not have gotten to him). He hasn't been active on SourceForge in over 5 years now.

Re: USB Sudoku
This looks like a VERY nice Sudoku game. The vast majority of Sudoku apps for Windows don't even let you note possible numbers!

Re: USB Sudoku
Sudoku Portable does. We wouldn't release one on PA.c without that feature. But at the higher difficulty levels it could have more than one solution, making it not a 'true Sudoku'. This is due to its more simplistic engine. USB Sudoku uses a much better engine and only spits out true Sudokus.dmg wrote:This looks like a VERY nice Sudoku game.
