gMote allows you to record gestures (mouse motions) and assign them to frequently performed tasks. Use gestures to bring up programs, websites, control your browser, media player, clipboard and much more. You can even assign your own key combinations to a gesture - make text bold by drawing a "b", lock your computer with an "L" - it's fully customisable and free.

(v. 1.32) On a laptop with a touchpad running Windows XP, I couldn't get anything having to do with the right mouse button to work at all (no middle mouse button). The control-shift combination worked perfectly, though. I'll send a bug report to the author.

Edit: Wondering about this program's ability to handle relative paths...doesn't seem to be any options for it.

Using Right-button and Ctrl+Right-button works fine my lappy here (also no middle button).
You can make it use relative paths by editing the gmote.ini file directly, i.e.:
Quote:
motions=.\mine.mtd

But the program seems to have issues when saving the mtd file, (it'll save it to the last 'opened' directory, for some reason; rather than in the directory where gmote.exe resides, v. peculiar).
Cheers anyway, this one has potential :lol:

Drutt,
Did you notice the saving issue before or after you edited the .ini? CobianBackup had a similar issue, last I tried it (ver. 8 ), but only when its .ini was "edited" similarly for portable-ness...

I'll probably just be using gMote for system stuff anyways (minimize, maximize, etc.) so paths haven't affected me yet.

My concern with relative paths was more for linked programs. The author pretty much states this is a current problem with the software, when he talks about "program lists" (programs with different actions), since all data is saved in the .mtd files. I put in a feature request for better handling of relative files. But a lot of workarounds can be made with autohotkeys and batch files, if necessary, since the program supports keystroke emulation.

I fixed my own problem here by editing the "gmote.ini" file directly and setting "idleTimeout=0". Couldn't do this through the application options because every time I chose the right mouse button option the program would default to a timeout of 10 ms. Regardless, after making this change I was using my right mouse button to make mouse gestures no problem.

The download link is broken. The author is now letting CNET host the app and they have converted it into some weird pseudo installer executable. I am not sure what needs to be done about this. It may no longer qualify as portable. :shock:
