I think that Opera + Facebook article isn't correctly researched.

I'm guessing it would be more like how Nintendo and Opera reached an agreement to use a modified Opera browser in Wii.
Facebook would use Opera's rendering engine, Presto, and build out from there. I'm just making assumptions! :)

The newest snapshots constantly freeze/crash here if a flash object is on a page. The flash doesn't need to be clicked on (launched), a banner somewhere on the page can make Opera hang. Very irritating. This rush for the final v12 is similar to v11 back then, which was also very buggy. Very bad practice.

I wouldn't say they are rushing when you compare to the likes of Firefox, where they have to release a stable version every quarter. At least with Opera they don't have a strict deadline and secondly they are just snapshots after all, so don't expect them to be working 100% correctly.

They started fixing facebook issues now, exactly after the rumor got out...it means they're thinking about selling...

Ah, I didn't put two and two together. Maybe it's Opera's way of being humorous and keeping everyone on their toes. :D

On the other side,

Because of various rumors on the matter, Google and other competition have also claimed interest in the Oslo-based company. This led to a 26 percent jump in Opera’s shares today, making the company worth a bit over $1 billion.

Google? That's a good joke! :) But going up 26%? Damn', those Opera folks are clever! :)

On topic: it's portable but not stealth.

I noticed that Songbird is pushing its business model into the social networking space (left I guess by the gap of Apple's closing Ping service) and it occurred to me they might be looking to get purchased by Facebook. Similarly, Opera is rumored to be for sale to Facebook. That would get them into a variety of mobile areas (past just iOS and Android) where they've caught quite a bit of flack for not having a coherent option.

Assuming I'm doing the math right here and this is a real possibility, I was wondering if you'd keep using if Facebook bought it? If not, what's your 2nd choice?
