TeamViewer

Submit portable freeware that you find here. It helps if you include information like description, extraction instruction, Unicode support, whether it writes to the registry, and so on.

TeamViewer

#1 Post by technicolordreamcoat »

Now here is very cool application: Teamviewer
With Teamviewer you can remotely control your PC, provide remote tech support or transfer files. This is definitely an app that I have been waiting for.

The good news:
simply download and execute setup, but choose "start without installing"
you will have to do this on the host and client machine to do something

The bad news:
it does not have to be installed, but that does not mean it is portable and I think it does something to the registry

can one of you portable gurus examine this app and determine if those registry entries are minor and this app can be accepted

thanks for checking this out
it's just too bad that you can't accept it,
I am thinking about asking the author to make it portable

Kalinka is correct.
There is a portable version BUT ...
As far as I can make out it is not freeware; it requires the Enterprise Concurrent licence.

TeamViewer is absolutely FREE for personal, non-commercial use - just download and start!
Please note: You can test this solution at any time, but if you want to use it in a real-life scenario an Enterprise Concurrent license is required, because only this license allows the use of TeamViewer on different computers.
you guys are right!!
this is very confusing, first they say that it is free for personal use and then you need a license for a usb version

maybe I will try to make it portable with jauntepe

You may modify your copy or copies of the Program or any portion
of it, thus forming a work based on the Program, and copy and
distribute such modifications or work under the terms of Section 1
above, provided that you also meet all of these conditions:
this is a quote from the license of the free version, so I think that making it portable with jauntepe should be legal

Our license conditions seem to be a bit unclear...

Some of the TeamViewer commercial versions are limited to be used on one or two computers, only the Enterprise Concurrent may be used on unlimited systems, so this is the only one that can be used on an USB stick.

However the free version can be installed on any pc you want, so there is no reason to use it as a portable app on USB.

You are welcome to use TeamViewer as portable app!

Perhaps I'm being obtuse!
Andrew has established that the free TeamViewer cannot be regarded as portable according to the conventions of the "Portable Freeware Collection".
Tilo accepts that the official portable version requires a licence yet insists that the free version is usable as a portable application.
It is useful when a developer is contributing ; my guess is that the company should consider re-writing the free version so that it is genuinely portable

http://www.teamviewer.com/licensing/index.aspx

the author gives you only 25 hours/month with the free version, where the server will probably record your ip or mac address to enforce the limit

if you use the usb version (from several PCs) the server would record several ip's and the limit will be hard to enforce

i think this is the reason behind the license for the usb version

to work around this you will have to install Teamviewer on all PCs
so in the end their license does not make sense at all
it is just a drag that it is not portable (yet)

unfortunately i have failed to make the free version portable with jauntepe

Try this: http://www.wikiupload.com/download_page.php?id=120288

Extract Teamviewer.exe and vnchooks.dll from TeamViewer_Setup.exe. Copy them and jauntePE.dll and madCHook.dll to the \Portable TeamViewer\TeamViewer folder. Run \Portable TeamViewer\Launch_Teamviewer.exe.

Launch_TeamViewer.exe the contents of the Registry and file system folders then launches TeamViewer.

It's a bit sloppy but it appears to do what I need it to do.

Hi,

I did the same and an error popped up telling me that teamviewer_portable is required. So i renamed the file.Actually it is a package made by jauntepe only but with an external launcher.
Do we have some template for writing this type of launchers.I would want to do it with all my jauntepe convets.

THANKS Redlar.
