Royalty Free Icons

#1 Post by guinness »

Does anyone know of any sites for high quality(royalty free) icons for both commercial and/or non-commercial use?

Thanks the_watcher. I will bookmark these for future reference, because at present I'm using icons from http://icons.mysitemyway.com just because the license agreement is black and white.

famfamfam I'm very familiar with, but not so great on icons greater than 16x16! The rest I will look at because I'm not familiar with them. Thanks I am Baas.

I use Find Icons - http://findicons.com - when I need to use an icon for a project!

Pretty good search engine!

I second the Deviantart recommendation. It can take some time searching to find what you want with a good license, but they have some amazing icon sets to choose from.

I know it seems like I'm being lazy by not doing my own research, but when you search 'Free Icons' there are an abundance of websites, so choosing the right one is like looking for a needle in a haystack!

Thanks freakazoid & dmg.

I think http://findicons.com and http://www.iconfinder.com
are the best.

Hey, I am new to this forum :D, and I have checked out the different resources, and I would like to contribute too.
I found a site, with a lot of icons, and a bunch of other royalty free stuff, too. It's at http://www.creattor.com, and my personal favorite was the royalty icon pack, at http://www.creattor.com/icons/royal-icons-2059, they have a nice finish, and a colonial/royalty theme... but this is just one set of many... got the avatar from there too :P

What would you recommend would be the best site for a beginner webdesigner, as icons go?

Gabriel, Deviantart has an awesome community of artists who encourage and criticize (constructively) and help their fellow artists.
If you are really into any kinda graphics design, even if its just a hobby,I would start there.
There are so many niches on the site its not funny.
