You can try to launch your own private working environment using http://www.brim-project.org/

And it is completely free.

Thanks for the suggestions, some I've tried and to be quite honest they fall slightly short of spurl. This is unfortunate, since I can no longer recommend spurl.net. It seems to be dead in the water. :(

Currently, I'm continuing to use spurl until such time as it completely ceases to work, after which time I shall move on to another provider. So far I like Simpy, if only because of its very powerful search capabilities, which allows for a lot of flexability on how you organize your bookmarks.
