Saleen - ScanFS, FilePro, Folder Sync

Submit portable freeware that you find here. It helps if you include information like description, extraction instruction, Unicode support, whether it writes to the registry, and so on.

1. ScanFS - Fast file locator and disk cataloging utility, free for home users, download @ http://download.saleensoftware.com/scanFS_setup.exe (Install/run sandboxed, copy and uninstall/delete sandbox), full Win 7 support.

2. Folder Sync - Freeware, download @ http://download.saleensoftware.com/Fold ... _setup.exe (Install/run sandboxed, copy and uninstall/delete sandbox), full Win 7 support.

- Can be used for differential or full backups.

3. FilePro - Professional disk and file manipulation, free for home users, download @ http://download.saleensoftware.com/FilePro_setup.exe (Install/run sandboxed, copy and uninstall/delete sandbox)

Edit: Alternatively, run the installer and select manual installation. Follow the instructions on the screen.

Features:
▪ Generate disk treemaps for local or network volumes
▪ Search and locate files in treemaps by automatic zoom-in and positioning.
▪ Save entire or partial volume snapshots
▪ Compare snapshot against current disk state or past snapshots
- Examine changes by difference in size or percentage difference
▪ Copy/Move/Rename/Delete files or directories
▪ Directory analysis
▪ Tool: Compare files and/or directories
▪ Tool: Find duplicate files

Note1: check out http://www.saleensoftware.com/Products for a few more interesting tools.

Note2: the programs listed above save settings in the application folder but an empty folder is created @ Documents and Settings\User Name\Local Settings\Application Data\Saleen Software. Could not find a way do change this. Guess it has got to do with Win 7 compatibility[/color].

Edit: resolved. See Ruby's post below.

I used to use and love Saleen's tools a long time ago! I lost them when I installed my OS a while back and then forgot about them. :|
I remember that they needed some tweaking to make them portable. I need to take a new shot at them.
Thanks for reminding me about these wonderful apps!

P.S. I've just found some forum posts I've written there back in '07; of course, about portability! :)
There was at that time a "noinstall" parameter needed for portability.

The applications are certainly available as 'portable' apps.
The author makes the option available in the Setup.

Kick off the Setup file.

Then choose 'Manual Installation'

Finally drag the exe file to any folder of your choosing. (in the case of ScanFX there is also a dll)

Thanks joby_toss and JohnW.

It still creates that empty folder in Documents and Settings\User Name\Local Settings\Application Data\ no matter what method you use (noinstall switch, manual installation, etc.)

Will email the author later on this week.

ScanFS
Version: 1.0.0 build 157
Date: 17 Feb 2011
Size: 1.56 MB

Just tested using the Manual Installation/Drag & Drop method.
It now creates/leaves an empty 'temp' folder in the top level of 'appdata'
e.g. C:\Users\Name\AppData\temp

Many years of Where's Wally? aka Where's Waldo?

I'm not worried, by the looks of things CafePortable and Coffee are there and both are exactly the same so it appears we have a true TPFC fan amongst us
