Here is the problem. Avira says that the toolbar is optional but clicking the Install later button only temporarily closes the popup alert. The popup window will continue to show whenever Windows is booted up and will only stop nagging you until the Avira SearchFree Toolbar is installed.
That's not true, as the author himself acknowledges in the comments. The popup window won't be displayed after clicking "Install later" three times.
(In addition, after cleaning the Temp folder you'll see a different popup window. It won't come back after dismissing it three times, even after cleaning the folder again.)
