Well Done Lupo! It was a sure winner from when you started back in October 2009 :D I'm glad to have been apart of the project.

First time user here. Found about this little nifty tool from freewaregenius.com. I have a problem. I set up a simple test with a rule to move any folder with the text "test" to the downloads folder. I used **test** and chose move in the dropdown menu. The problem is that it does not actually move the folder, it just copies it. It works for files though...

Good article on freewaregenius! :D
I'm writing an answer to feature requests written there.. any request is welcome to improve DropIt!

I desire to underline that Guinness collaboration was and is essential for both DropIt and ArcThemALL! development in these months and we are the two current authors of them.

Welcome ma_t14, it could be a problem of locked folders.. have you verified that they are not locked? and are you using "Move" action with "Enable associations also for folders" active?
You can write me more info about the problem with a private message if you want, to help us to resolve the problem..

Thanks Lupo :D

Also where is the folder located and do you have admin rights if the folder is located in a protected directory?

I have fixed the problem to move folders (it afflicts the current release 2.5)..

About chris090577 request, you can simply create pattern rules like "*Invoice*2010*" and "*Invoice*2011*".. verify if it is what you need..

Tomorrow I'll publish version 2.6 beta for testing.. thanks for your bug reports and feature requests!

Congrats on a very intriguing app. What would make it perfect for my use is if it could carry out multiple actions at once. While it seems you can program multiple actions to a pattern, if there is more than one action for a file type, it makes you choose. It would be as simple as a "Perform All" button next to the Cancel button.

How it would be useful is if you wanted files to be quickly tranfered to two folder locations, such as Dropbox (to transfer it to other computers) and then its native folder. The problem I always have with Dropbox is that it becomes an "everything" folder, which isn't all that useful in terms of organization. And sooner or later I revise a doc in its native folder, and things become even more confusing.

Great work on this app!

Treis mentioned in the comments about it being featured on LifeHacker >> http://ca.lifehacker.com/5806828/dropit ... es-for-you

I tried to post a comment but couldn't see where on Lifehacker :(

Lupo73 has been adding code and I've been concentrating on other software related matters, but I have a couple of tricks up my sleeve that even Lupo73 doesn't know about for DropIt :D

Good article! But we can do much better

We are working on next major release that will includes several new features:
- an improved Edit Association window
- support to Delete action in 3 modes (Normally Delete, Safety Erase, Send to Recycle Bin)
- new Rename action (with more environment variables)
- support to multiple actions
- support to extra filters (based on file size and date)
- scheduling to scan defined folders
- import/export patterns

I think you will love it! ..if someone is interested, we need your help to test it..
