The 'SendTo' is an option but look at this post @ DonationCoder Forums for another one (sorry, too lazy to write it down myself :) ). Pay attention to the note about file association.

Hi I am Baas,

Ok, I got it now.

Please let me know if you agree about the following (1 = more convenient and 3 = less convenient):

1. Launch ChoiceEditor via hotkey then drag and drop the specific file onto the specific section of ChoiceEditor's GUI which lists the application you want to use to open that file with.

2. The 'SendTo' method which I am currently using. (BTW, did you know about this method? Is this the way you use ChoiceEditor, or do you use method number 3?)

3. The file association method (ref. donationcoder)

Please note that the method number 1 is not (yet) working but I have the intention to make it work ;)

Thanks again, buddy

I use a batch file to register some context menu entries, I have them set for all types of files, but you can configure them to only appear on certain filetypes. I also have it set as a per-user setting (HKCU) but it can be changed to all users (HKLM).

Let me know if you want me to post the code.

I would be very interested in the first method. Please let me know if you get it to work. I was using the 3rd option.

A heads-up on portability across systems, i.e. Vista SP2:

Hi Ruby,

Thanks for the heads-up but I am duly vaccinated against Vista ;)

I noticed a couple of downsides and I am working a bit with ChoiceEditor to see if I can improve it... Pity the development seems to have been discontinued and both developer and SC are MIA (anybody, please correct me if I am wrong)... I see potential in that small tool.
