Submit portable freeware that you find here. It helps if you include information like description, extraction instruction, Unicode support, whether it writes to the registry, and so on.

can you explain the algorithm that you use to check the version?
In particular I do not understand how find the version when there are 2 or 3 or 4 words "Version Nr. after the text".
For example with Privoxy:

Code: Select all

HREF="announce.txt"
TARGET="_top"
>3.0.16 (stable)</A

Code: Select all

announce
/A
>
version is before "/A" and not after. Why? Ty.

I'd also like some more detail on how it determines the text to search for, from trial and error I have determined that the "after text" fields are groups of text that can be anywhere before the version number, but must be in order. But sometimes this does not work how I expect it to (I can't think of any examples right now).

An option for regex searching would be nice.

Oh, and multi-threaded Web Update too, it would be done in 15 seconds then, instead of the 2 minutes it for my list to update.

OK, now I'm really confused, I thought I had the text search worked out, now I get this on the SIW download page (http://www.gtopala.com/siw-download.html) when I search for the phrase "build 0428":

Shouldn't "small" be before "Freeware" in the searchlist?? And "Freeware" shouldn't even be in the "Version nr is after text" section.

I too am interested in how this algorithm works. I suppose I can see how it works and helps because on some pages certain words do repeat and this works from top to bottom or bottom to top.
