QZoom is full screen zoom and operation tool like Mac OS X in Windows XP and Vista.

Extract using UE and create a file named "setting.ini" in the same folder as "QZoom.exe".
No registry entries, no files outside its own folder.
Pretty sure it doesn't need .Net.

Zoom In : Win + Alt + ^
Zoom Out : Win + Alt + -
Cancel : Esc
(customizable!)
Mouse Scroll Wheel Zoom In And Out.
Zoom In : Control Key + Wheel Up
Zoom Out : Control Key + Wheel Down
(It is possible to select and combine it
from Ctrl,Alt,Shift and Win Key.)

This app can do wonders used in conjunction with CamStudio.

Thank you, mira96!

Cool! Thanks joby for posting!
Seems like mira96 posted a portable version on the blog, so no need to use UE ;)

Quite small memory usage, which is good.
Customizable hotkeys and mousewheel zoom as well!

Definitely useful for Camstudio or Camtasia!

Full portability confirmed by the author, mira96.
Link to portable version http://mira96.com/downloads/QZoom_v15e.zip .

Later edit: it can even zoom media player window (even on XP). Example:

Great program. Its JUST like OS X's CTRL+scroll wheel function. Can picture several uses:

1. Focusing audience attention during presentations or when you want to
2. Full screen a video that's not setup or capable of full screen (e.g. QuickTime player)
3. For the visually impaired.

Additionally its a small memory footprint, small file, simple settings file.

Comodo's complaining that its trying to add something to my startup menu but when I checked the settings, it didn't appear to do anything. *shrug*

Update:

Been using this program a lot. Issues:

1. The escape button problem - I mapped it to win+alt+"Esc" and the other two buttons to win+alt+"=" and win+alt+"-"

2. QZoom's scroll wheel on one system caused the whole system appeared to slow way down. This was on a on a Dell Latitude D820 with a 1920 x 1200 screen with a good video card. I switched over to just using the key combos and it worked fine.

3. If you use Dexpot with QZoom and change screens, the other (virtual) screen will just freeze until you hit escape key. Its minorly confusing.

4. It does add itself to the start menu but you can right click and uncheck that option pretty easily.

Dear Lupo73.

I'm QZoom developer.
please teach your os and 32bit or 64bit.

QZoom use only one transparent(WS_EX_LAYERED) window when zooming.
my environment used 4-5M.(windows xp, 32bit)

I saw on winPenPack an entry called DBRicette and saw your name on the main page, wondered what it was? Google Translate is alittle poor.

I don't know why, but on my computer use lots of memory:

(my computer use Vista 32bit with 2GB of RAM)

OT @guinness: Yes ^^ ..I helped Giorgio Musilli, the author of DBRicette and of Didattica, redesigning these two websites (because I found previous graphics really incomprehensible). It was for hobby and because I'm interested also in didactic portable software (this is an Italian project I'm developing: PcInTasca).

I confirmed it with vista.
QZoom used 30M-50M memory.

WC_MAGNIFIER style window seems to use a lot of memory.
Microsoft ZoomIt live zoom mode was used in the same.
(Both Windows magnification api is used.)

If QZoom create WC_MAGNIFIER style window while only zooming,
The screen flickers at each start.

Windows 7 is likely to be able to improve it.
because The screen flickers improved.

So, I didn't understand, is it not possible to fix it?

I have also found some additional ideas for improvements:
- add a (customizable or not) border to the zoom screen (to arrive to the screen corners with the view before than with the mouse) --> I think could be a good option to add, because it could allow to have a better view of marginal elements
- add mouse click combination, to enable zoom in/out using only mouse (for example double-center click, or other combination)
- fix incompatibility with default Windows image viewer, if possible (now if I zoom with QZoom, the image disappear)
- fix settings window as in the image

Until mira96 provides a 64bit version of QZoom (it "works" on win7x64 but it's so slow that is unusable), here is an alternative:
Quote:
AeroZoom is a simple AutoHotKey program I (i.e. wandersick) created that enhances upon the new Magnifier in Windows 7 to turn any mouse into a presentation mouse, where zooming in/out and moving around becomes a breeze without a keyboard.

Image
It works exactly like QZoom (and more) if "Follow the mouse pointer" option is used in Windows Magnifier (needed); just hold LeftMouseButton and use the scroll wheel to zoom in/out.
Very nice, but you might encounter a system without Magnifier installed, so be careful! :)

Cheers!
