I have the portable firefox in my flash drive

Some flash movies are not showing up

It says I have to install the flash player

When I download it it doesn't install in the flash drive firefox

Are there any files that I can copy from the firefox browser

that is not in flash drive and paste it into the one that is

in the flash drive?

If you have an installed version of FF on your HDD than you can simply copy the content of the ...\Firefox\Plugnis directory into the corresponding directory on your flash drive. It should work fine.

I recently had to troubleshoot this myself.

You can download the latest version of the Flash plugin here:
http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/fl ... er-win.xpi

After you've downloaded it, open it with either WinRAR or 7-Zip.

Extract "flashplayer.xpt" and "NPSWF32.dll" files to your portable "Firefox\plugins\" folder.

Hope that helps!

When I click on it

it doesn't downlaod a zipped file but it downloads an installer

So I am not able to extract those two files xpt and dll

However let me extract it from the plugin of the hard drive one

as the other person suggested

Thanks

I installed flash player in my hard drive firefox

I found the location of the files

NPSWF32.dll

and flashplayer.xpt

I copied both of them and placed then in plugin subfolder

of my portable firefox version 3.0

Still it doesn't work

If anyone has figured out a way where else those files need to be

placed and make it work in a portable firefox please send me a note

I have it working, but really I don't remember how it went, I installed flash 7? somehow ant then upgraded a few times.
But I searched for references to the plugin in my config and found it in one file: pluginreg.dat.
Try to add the following lines at the end of the file:
Code:
D:\TC\Tools\Net\FireFox\cfg\plugins\NPSWF32.dll|$
|$
1223177042000|1|7|$
Shockwave Flash 10.0 r12|$
Shockwave Flash|$
2
0|application/x-shockwave-flash|Adobe Flash movie|swf|$
1|application/futuresplash|FutureSplash movie|spl|$
C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash\NPSWF32.dll|$
|$
1223177042000|1|13|$
Shockwave Flash 10.0 r12|$
Shockwave Flash|$
2
0|application/x-shockwave-flash|Adobe Flash movie|swf|$
1|application/futuresplash|FutureSplash movie|spl|$

References to flashplayer.xpt:
xpti.dat:
Code:
[Files,9]
(...)
8,flashplayer.xpt,9,856,1223176292000

I guess that 9 in the section name seems to be number of entries, so probably you should change it as well as the first number in the entry.

Thanks for attempting to help me

I opened both the dat files in the portable firefox

They are way to verbose than what you have described

There is a ton of stuff in those two files

and in your pluginreg.dat

is the D refers to your USB drive

I am sure there has got to be easier way to get the adobe flash player

version 10 working from portable firefox version 3.1

I didn't say that this is full content of the files. :P

No, to the HDD partition I have FFP on. IMO FF is too slow to be run from a pendrive. :P
Either the launcher or Firefox itself should change paths if needed, so it doesn't matter anyway.

Indy

Possibly. But it's the only help that I could give. Wish you luck.

With each version of flash installer

The two required files get placed in different folders

The latest version is version number 10

Install the version 10 in the hard drive

open the folder

C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash

Look for these files

flashplayer.xpt
NPSwf32.dll

If you put the cursor on these files it will show

version 10.0.12.36

copy both the files and place them in

the plugin folder of the portable firefox.

I am using portable firefox version 3.1

In it you have to place them in this folder

J:\FirefoxPortable\App\Firefox\plugins

Actually you will find several plugin folders

J is the drive path for my portable drive

yours might be different

Actually it is rather simple as long as you are aware of where

to look for those two files and in which folder to put them in

keep in mind in the portable firefox folder you might find two or there

plugin subfolders

Hope this info helps someone

Because my hint obviously did not work, I decided to try it out myself. Here what I did:

1. Downloaded the Flash installer.
2. Unpacked it with 7-Zip
3. Result - 3 files NPSWF32_FlashUtil.exe, NPSWF32.dll, flashplayer.xpt PLUS a subfolder named $PLUGINSDIR (I didn't care much about the later one because I knew from some Universal Extractor extractions before that there is not much of use in there in such a case.)
4. Opened the FFPortable folder and looked for plugins subfolder.
5. Result - 3 subfolders, one in ...\App\Firefox\plugins
a second one here: ...\App\DefaultData\plugins and the third one here: ...\Data\plugins
6. In two of the plugins subfolders there were txt-files with an advise to place plugins here. (Data and DefaultData)
7. I put the the three files first into the first plugins subfolder and tested it - it worked.
8. I did the same with the other two subfolders named plugins and it worked too.
9. Because I don't have an installed FF on my HDD, I downloaded an FF installer and installed it into a sandbox.
10. I also installed the Flash player into the same sandbox.
11. Result - the flash player installer put the three files mentioned above into ...\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash\ AND into the plugins subfolder of Opera (installed on my system).

My conclusion:
1. I have too much time obviously.
2. I mixed things up because in the case of Opera the whole plugin stuff is within the plugins subfolder, an installed FF uses the files from the ...Macromed\Flash\ folder. I apologise for my wrong recommendation.
3. It doesn't matter which plugins subfolder you choose within the folder of FFProtable anyone will do.
4. I will stick with Opera.

You have to download the file not open it.

Copy the two files I mentioned over to /your portable firefox directory/data/plugins/ (guess I should've been clearer here!)

Make sure that Portable Firefox is closed when you do this.
Restart and you should be able to view flash files.

But I see you've already figured it out!
