Better selection method

#21 Post by lifeh2o »

Hi raefel!

In my opinion the older look of IYF (Alpha 08 ) was more beautiful. :)
This and Alpha08 has no multiple file selection by mouse :( . This selection method is very convineient and easy to use because windows has the same selection method. e.g. press the left mouse button and drag over the files that you want to select. Or press ctrl and click each file that you want to select.

I am working on it.
Also, I am adding a 'treeview' to the databases.

Thank you for the suggestion.

Is there a way to do a full-index and store that in the db and when querying it will just query the db and hence provide a lot faster answers than crawling through all the individual files?

well, I have a fully encrypted stick and carry quite a few docs with me (several hundred) and am looking for a full indexed database ;)

So far I like your tool really good except crawling through all the docs takes always some time - I realize that creating a fully indexed database is quite complex :)

A fantastic prog!

Only discovered it today, but I'm seriously impressed. Why is it still alpha? And why is it not in the database here?

Respect to the programmer!

It is in the database here.

Raphael used to distribute two different versions of the program. I believe that when he combined them into one, he adopted the "Alpha" designation.

However, I've been using the program(s) for quite awhile without any issues. Perhaps, when he makes his next release, he'll drop the "Alpha."

Regards,
Dan

Ah - I had made a search for IYF which brought no results in the DB ...

I love small and efficient progs! And no-install :-) Comes in handy for use in the office, where one can't install software.

A nice feature would be to save searches, and a switch to exclude subfolders on the spot, to speed things even more.

Continue the great work, Raphael!

Question to the portable experts here: how do you manage to enter a relative path, to create an index for contents of your stick?

Didn't find a way, and as drive letters change, any search results will be for the last-entered drive-letter of the index.

If it's not possible yet - might be a good idea for the next version!

Thanks
Chris
