What portable apps do we miss ?

#1 Post by XPect »

The idea of this post is to list the things we can't find as portable yet.
Maybe this could give some idea to some developpers

Right now I've found a lot of stuff here and the only thing missing for me is an apps abble to mount CD images in a virtual drive. I carry with me several technical CD's and I would like to keep images of those CD on an usb drive.
If someone know something doing this...

I think this might do the trick:-

It's the Windows XP virtual CD, it is contentious if it is portable as it requires no install but you must copy a file into the system directory, however the file is portable and can be installed via the application.
I've just ran this from my USB drive and mounted an ISO image no problems.

Best of Luck

Thanks EasyBeat, that's working fine.

You're not even obliged to copy the driver to the windows system directory.
1 - Click driver control and install driver, you can pick up the vcdrom.sys where ever it is. I've checked, nothing is copied.
2 - Start the driver
3 - Add Drive
4 - Mount the image

Then all the steps back to dismount.
Not very automatic but fine for me, thanks again.
