Hi, what about display fusion? It's a free alternative to "ultramon", and it allows you to manage multi-monitor setups with ease...

DisplayFusion is a fantastic application that can make your dual monitor (or triple monitor or more) life much, much easier! From allowing you to use a different wallpaper on each monitor, to integrating with Flickr for image searching, to providing hotkeys for managing your application windows.
Here are just a few of the things you can do with DisplayFusion:
* Set a different desktop wallpaper on each monitor (either a picture or solid colour)
* Set a desktop wallpaper that spans all monitors (either a picture or colour)
* Change your desktop wallpaper on a timer
* Easily manage application windows with fully customizable hotkeys:
o Move windows to the next monitor
o Move windows to the next monitor and maximize them
o Move windows to centre of the screen
o Move windows to centre of the screen and size it to 75% of the work area
o Tile windows along the top, bottom, left or right side
o Maximize windows so that they span all monitors
o Customize your own hotkey to do anything you can imagine
* Integrated Flickr image search & download
* Drag maximized windows to other screens

Re: Dual monitor display
I use ZBar on my multi-monitor setup. I know it's non-portable, but I do not need to take this app anywhere
It's also very lightweight.
