I think this is an amusing marketing campaign, I will probably download Firefox 3, and then use the portable versionSet a Guinness World Record Enjoy a Better Web
Sounds like a good deal, right? All you have to do is get Firefox 3 during Download Day to help set the record for most software downloads in 24 hours - it’s that easy. We're not asking you to swallow a sword or to balance 30 spoons on your face, although that would be kind of awesome.

Firefox's Download Day
From www.theregister.co.uk:
Mozilla is trying for a record in a new category, according to a representative of the firm. That means it doesn't have an existing mark to better. The open source browser outfit aims to secure over 1.6m downloads over 24 hours.

So it's Firefox Download Day, But mozilla.org and most of the download servers are bogged down, I keep getting "Connection Reset", "Http/1.1 Service Unavailable" and slow connections. I guess Mozilla wasn't as prepared as they thought
PortableApp's is a little slow on the update, So I'll just play with my shiny new Firefox 3.0 in Sandboxie

For those who can't wait for the portable version of FF3.0, here is a first version from a German website:
http://ftp.hosteurope.de/mirror/stadt-b ... e_Firefox/
Don't worry beside the German one there is also an English version available.
For the German speaking users among us here the link to the website itself (it is entierly in German):

The guy who runs the blog often offers his portables for the public.

It's mid-day and they've already beat the Firefox 2.0 record
1.6 million.
Right now it's almost 2.5 million
