Submit portable freeware that you find here. It helps if you include information like description, extraction instruction, Unicode support, whether it writes to the registry, and so on.

TotalEdit - source code editor

#1 Post by shaggystyle »

A powerful editor and notepad replacement TotalEdit makes it easier to complete your file editing and software development tasks.
TotalEdit can now be installed onto a USB Memory key and used across all your computers without installation. Once installed onto your desktop computer all you need to do is copy TotalEdit's program files onto you USB memory key.
Now whenever you need to edit a file on a computer that doesn't have TotalEdit installed; plug your USB memory key into the computer and double-click on TEditStd.exe to start TotalEdit.

Ok... another text editor... but... it looks nice for a good coding session.

Just UniExtract and run TEditStd.exe

As you imply, at the end of the day it's yet another text editor (yawn!).

BUT it seems to me that it's extremely well written and stands comparison with many of the front runners.

So thanks very much for the post.

Old topic update: TotalEdit development subsequently branched out in two versions, the freeware Lite and payware Pro (http://www.codertools.com/totaledit.aspx); ultimately, TotalEdit Pro (v5.7) has been made freeware (for the free license key, see http://www.codertools.com/).

TotalEdit Pro appears to be a very competent programmer editor; plus, it can be simply (Uni)extracted and run portably -- most settings will be kept in the program folder, but unfortunately some very minor options will still be saved to 'HKCU\Software\CoderTools\TotalEdit-Pro', so it's not entirely stealth...
