#1 Post by Midas » Mon Feb 06, 2017 12:29 pm

Haven't been seeing many such devices since the heyday of the UMPC... :o
More info at http://www.pcmag.com/news/350896/gpd-po ... -10-laptop.

EDIT: Apparently, this is the scheme for the keyboard layout...

The Mirabook is another interesting portable gadget -- with a USD 300 prospective price tag.

It looks like a regular laptop, with a 13.3 inch screen and comfortable keyboard, and according to French startup Miraxess, the firm behind the Mirabook, the battery can be used for up to 24 hours while recharging your smartphone. I have owned Acer Aspire Switch for several years and use it for travel. Fairly light weight, cheap, great battery life and can be used either as a laptop or tablet.

Thank you. :)

Personally, I find the sweet spot for tablets to be around the 8" display size, going above it quickly gets to be an encumbrance (and I do have big hands); laptops are a different story, of course.

One of the reasons the GPD device did pique my curiosity...

EDIT: Apparently only recently did the GPD Pocket device finally become available, so here's a video review.

Apart from the keyboard issue, it looks really cool. I like the 8gigs RAM.
