FreeOTFE 2.0 is now available (updated from 1.6):

Have found this superior to TrueCrypt, especially in on-the-fly encryption/decryption speed. Ran both through some
Sandra file system benchmarking, and FreeOTFE was *dramatically* faster than TrueCrypt.

Also - there's FreeOTFE Explorer v3.00, a separate program which doesn't need drivers.
This makes FreeOTFE truely portable unlike Truecrypt as you don't need administrator rights to use it!
Please could we include a new entry for this one as well?

The entry for truecrypt isn't right:
http://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?id=199
states: "Stealth [?]: Yes" - but actually writes "
LEGACY_TRUECRYPT" driver settings to the registry, and doens't clean them up afterwards -
Also the one for FreeOTFE:
http://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?id=698
has: "Dependencies: Administrator rights" but with FreeOTFE Explorer, you
don't need administrator rights
(that's it's whole point!)

There
are differences between FreeOTFE and FreeOTFE Explorer
(Operation, partition support, filesystem support)

Think I found a way around the annoying "do you want to enable portable mode" prompt -- add this to command line parameters:
You can also add "/silent" if the progress bar annoys you:

Pointing out the obvious, but you can disable this prompt by just turning it off in the options:
- "View | Options..."
- "Advanced" tab
- Click the "Autostart portable mode if FreeOTFE drivers not installed/running"
